Because it bears repeating…

I wrote this back in November 2007, but I think it wouldn’t hurt to hear it again.

—————————————————————

Listen to me.

At any given moment, your life can change drastically.

Friends enrich our existance in a way that nothing else can.

Close your eyes. Picture any one of your friends. Now imagine your phone rings. The voice on the other end of the line is wrought with distraught anguish.

Your friend is gone.

This isn’t out of the realm of possibility. They could step out into the street and get hit by a bus. They could be eating dinner alone and choke. They could get hit by a drunk driver.

The first thing you think of is the last time you talked to them. What happened? How do you feel? Is there anything you wish you had said or done differently?

I attempt to live my life in such a way that if I ever get a life-changing phone call, I know that I will have no regrets over that last talk. I hope that my friends would too.

Perspectives can change when viewed standing graveside.

Don’t just live like you were dying. Live like THEY might.

  1. What wonderful advice! I agree with you completely and while I try to remember to think like this, I sometimes forget. Thanks for the reminder.

    Have a fantastic day.
