It’s Officially Spring. (Official by Who? ME.)

Yesterday I didn’t have any hostas and today there they are, peeking up out of the ground!
I met my first deadline I was worried about. The Diecut Box is done, and I am very happy with the way it turned out.

04/07… Team project. Dan, Mark, and I were commissioned to do the Kirkwood SIFE Team’s annual report to take to competition in Chicago. Their team meets every Tuesday at 11, and every Tuesday for the last four Tuesdays I have went to their meeting and asked for the graphics and copy that they want me to place on the inside of the report. Now it’s due on Thursday and they still haven’t given it to me. They emailed the copy to us today, but still no graphics. I s’pose they will leave it until Wednesday night and expect me to turn it around that night and give it to them Thursday morning. We’re going to their meeting tomorrow and I will probably tell them I want it that day or the report will not include the graphics. I’ve only had a couple real clients, and the last one pulled that type of crap, too. They get their part of the project to me at the last minute and want me to bust my ass and turn it around in 5 minutes. It’s crap.

04/11… Splash page for my website. I’m extremely stressed out about this. It has these requirements: It must have at least one digital camera image, an 8 frame animation, and the buttons must have icons that match the theme of the site. Every idea I’ve had fits one of the requirements but I’m not happy with the way it fits the others. I’m so frustrated. I’ve developed a twitch in my right eyelid. I’m not kidding. I’m so stressed that I’ve developed a damn twitch, people.

Next…
04/22… Portfolio critique/mock interview. I already have a bunch of my stuff printed off, but I still have to place it in the portfolio. Also have to make a few plain white frames. Also have to touch up some of the projects before they go in the portfolio, but I may not have enough time for that.

Next…
04/29… Final project for Production Techniques II. A full page ad for either Fiji water or MiracleGro that would be suitable to put into National Geographic. Sketch is due Thursday and I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to do yet.

My website doesn’t have a due date yet, but it will be before school is over obviously. Last day of Prod Tech II is 04/29, so last day of Web Design II is 04/27.

The week of May 2-6 is Finals week. I will have 3 finals.

I’ve been fighting panic attacks. It sneaks up on me. First my nose completely closes so I can only breathe through my mouth, and my throat constricts, and my heart races, and every muscle in my face and neck clenches. Fun, fun, fun.

I’m so afraid that after I graduate, I won’t be able to find a job in a design studio; or even worse, in my FIELD. I wasn’t really worried about that until I interviewed for the job at Presentations (a studio in Hiawatha) and didn’t get it.

Last night I had a nightmare that I lived in Adobe Illustrator and I was running around on the white screen, pushing the anchor points of the shapes into place.

We have a new member of the family. Well, she lives here anyway. She’s a hamster. Her name is Anna Penelope Snack, or “Annie” for short. She eats her own poop. She’s not the brightest crayon in the box.

I guess that’s all for now.
